Joshua has been serving students at Shoreline since 2017, starting as a VA work study in the Veterans' Resource Center, and moving to positions in Student Accessibility Services and the Counseling Center before landing back in VMSS. As a Shoreline AA-DTA graduate, they went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Washington. Joshua is also a US Army/Washington Army National Guard veteran, driven to foster an environment where military-connected students can not only succeed, but thrive. Hobbies include tinkering with old computers, drawing, retro video games, and table前 RPGs.

As the 学生支持与成功主任, Derek is responsible for strategic direction and daily operations for 学生支持计划, including Veterans Programs, Student Accessibility Services (SAS), Assessment and Testing Center, Tutoring Services, and the 社区 Employment Program (CEP). Derek earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California at Santa Cruz and Master of Arts in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University. A son of a Korean War veteran, Derek is passionate about supporting military connected students and has had the opportunity to open Veteran Centers at two previous schools. Derek and his wife have three boys and numerous pets. He is also active each spring and summer as a Little League umpire.
